Jane Hall Talks About Folate

Tell me more about Folate

Folate (or folic acid) is a group B vitamin that can reduce the chance of having a baby with a neural tube defect by up to 70 per cent. All women of child-bearing age need to have adequate folate in their diet, prior to becoming pregnant and during the first four to six weeks of pregnancy - folate tablet supplements can ensure women are obtaining enough folate. Women who have a family history of neural tube defects in their blood relatives, or those of their partner, need 10 times more folate than other women.
